Information for students

The IAESTE local committee Dresden provides internships for the students of Dresden University of Technology and the University of Applied Sciences (HTW) in all technical and scientific fields. There are internships offered both in the industry as well as in research institutes. Most of the IAESTE internships last about 2-3 months, usually during the summer months. All IAESTE internships are paid, the salary is based on the specific living costs in the country of destination. IAESTE takes care of all necessary formalities and usually provides accommodation for the trainees. This service is free for students enrolled in Germany due to the integration of the IAESTE programme into the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

How can I apply for an internship through IAESTE?

First of all, we expect that you have completed your pre-diploma or the third semester of your Bachelor/Master studies. If you fulfil this requirement, you have basically two options to get an internship through IAESTE:

1.) The regular application procedure

By submitting an online pre-application you will be registered in our application pool. The application starts in September. Only students of TU and HTW Dresden are eligible to apply for an internship at our LC in Dresden. If you are not a student of TU or HTW please contact the Local Committee in your hometown/country. Depending on your wishes (regarding the preferred countries, period of time, qualifications) every applicant will receive an internship offer. Since there are usually about 30 to 40 internships p.a. available for Dresden and the number of applicants is approximately 170, up to four applicants will be offered the same internship. If there is more than one acceptance, we will decide about the final allocation according to the online pre-applications.

The dead line for submitting an online application is the 30th November of each and every year. The offered internships are always scheduled for the following year (usually during the summer months). The regular application procedure is described in detail here.

2.) The direct application for remaining internships

After the internship offers have been distributed in the regular application procedure, some internships offers may still be remaining. These remaining internships are often quite interesting and will be redistributed in a post-exchange session independently from the online pre-applications. Information about the post-exchange session will be published through our newsletter.

In addition to that there are internship offers that have been announced too late or to early for the regular application procedure. These offers are called Early Offers or Late Offers and they often have to be filled on short notice. If we receive any internship offer of this kind, we will forward it to our newsletter. If you are interested in one of these forwarded internship offers, you should contact us immediately so that we can try to reserve it for you.

Finally, there is an international IAESTE database which contains a regularly updated list of internship offers that also have to be filled on short notice. Kindly supported by IAESTE Local committee Karlsruhe we can offer the up-to-date list here. This list is accessible worldwide and therefore the internships may be filled quickly by someone else. Please notice that the list does not contain all information because of data privacy issues. The list is updated regularly, so if you visit the web page often remember to „refresh“ or „reload“. If you want to know more about the internships or are interested in a particular internship offer you are welcome to visit us in our office during the office hours. We will then try to reserve the internship for you!
